Chris Hemsworth is in Sydney today promoting In The Heart Of The Sea. Today happens to be the final day of his reign as PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive. He’s on stage, making his final walk, waving while he tells the audience in voiceover how he’s tried to achieve world peace over the last 12 months.

As you may recall, I wasn’t big on Chris being named to the title. Part of it has to do with the fact that he’s not my type. But mostly because I just didn’t think he was there on status yet. Like, for sure, it’s a better selection that Adam f-cking Levine. But, at the time, and still now, I think, I’m not sure Chris Hemsworth is “household”. That he’s universally recognisable.

But maybe that’s more a problem with the Sexiest Man Alive brand. And, also, the fact that there are very few new “true” movie stars. Jennifer Lawrence is a “true” movie star by classic and modern standards. But during her rise, in her era, who’s her male counterpart? I’m not sure she has one.

PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive 2015 will be announced on Jimmy Kimmel tonight. Again, my prediction is Will Smith
