SNL fires Shane Gillis

Shane Gillis was announced as a new cast member on Saturday Night Live less than a week ago. He hadn’t started yet and he’s been fired for racist and homophobic slurs made last year. I don’t have a thesis for this post, just a lot of thoughts. Will try to get through some of them here. Full Story

Prince Harry was back at work today after taking a few weeks holiday. During that holiday, I’m sure you’ve heard, he flew on private jets to Ibiza and the South of France with Meghan Markle and their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. They were dragged for it in the British press, who covered the story with more outrage and column space than Prince Andrew’s connection to pedophile rapist Jeffrey Epstein. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

Where do you think Prince Andrew was when he wrote the letter that was released on Saturday, his latest attempt at “clarifying” his relationship to Jeffrey Epstein? Apparently Andrew is still on holiday in Spain, but what I’m curious about is where he was, exactly, when he tossed off this statement.  Read Full Intro

Most people seem to agree that Buckingham Palace courtiers had no hand in the statement that Prince Andrew released on Saturday August 24, 2019, almost exactly two weeks, to the day and hour, after Jeffrey Epstein “died by suicide”. Not only because the writing is a mess (which is so very unroyal, non?) but because… well… this tweet says it all: This is like the letter your client wants to hand up to the judge at his sentence hearing and you have to use all your powers of reasoning to explain to him why that is not a good idea. Full Story

Is that redundant? Like can’t you just put “Gwyneth Paltrow” in the title and assume that everyone else will know that the words “wealth” and “privilege” will follow? This is the cover of the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter Full Story

Instagram influencers are the easiest sub-set of “celebrities” to sh-t on because no one will ever stick up for an influencer. They are universally ridiculed and dismissed. So what am I doing here?  Amanda Seyfried posted two things about an influencer (who I’ll get to in a second). Full Story

Alex Rodriguez: here comes the namedropper

Alex Rodriguez is making entertainment headline news today for an interview he did in Sports Illustrated because he told a story about a celebrity – and that celebrity is not Jennifer Lopez, it’s Kylie Jenner. ARod f-cked up the details, but before we get to that, I want to underline the fact that he did an interview with SI, which would not normally make its way over to E! News, if not for his namedropping. Full Story
