Twitter erupted in outrage on Friday when on his Impaulsive Podcast, Logan Paul said that he was going to practice “Male only March” and attempt to “go gay” for one month. If you don’t know who Logan Paul is, I am envious of your blissful unawareness. Logan Paul first became famous on the now defunct social media platform, Vine. Full Story

Two days ago it was announced that Kevin Hart would host the Oscars and I wrote,  “…everyone likes Kevin Hart. He’s the Platonic ideal of an Oscar host: popular, funny but not offensive…” And then a lot of you emailed to let me know that you don’t like Kevin Hart. Full Story

Madonna and Lady Gaga

Lainey Posted by Lainey at December 4, 2018 15:46:45 December 4, 2018 15:46:45

As you know, for the past couple of months, Lady Gaga has been promoting her very good work in A Star is Born and campaigning for an Oscar. As you may have heard, during all of that promotion, she’s been repeating the thing about the 100 people in a room. If you’re unfamiliar with the quote, here it is, over and over again:   If she wins the Oscar…do you think she’s going to say that during her acceptance speech?  Anyway, this post isn’t about that. Full Story

They used to say that Will Smith owns July. So many of his blockbuster movies were released in July that that was an understood thing in Hollywood. Do you have a month that has always been amazing for you? Do you have a month that has never been amazing for you? A month that has been total sh-t for you, consistently? Jared Leto, class warrior

Maria Posted by Maria at September 19, 2018 14:10:12 September 19, 2018 14:10:12

In the last couple of years, there’s been an increase in the conversations about the treatment of women in Hollywood, particularly around wage inequality and of course #MeToo. Jared Leto also has an an important topic to bring up: women who make too much money for his comfort level. He’s been photographed a couple of times in a pink hoodie with a list of Forbes’ highest paid models displayed on the back and “America” written across the top of the hood. Full Story

Last month the Academy announced upcoming changes to the Oscars telecast, to combat the ratings slide which is affecting everything on broadcast TV including football, and for the Oscars is mostly down to the fragmentation of entertainment and a little bit the popularity of the host which statistics show is more important to viewers than any given film’s box office or broad appeal but whatever. Full Story

The Academy has just announced changes for the Oscars, one of which is relatively minor, two of which are ham-fisted at best, disastrous at worst. The minor change is moving up the broadcast date for 2020 to February 9, which will just make award season a little more hectic as there is less breathing room between the major ceremonies. Full Story
