Entertainment Weekly has more first-look photos from movies coming out this fall, including the first official image of Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams in the biopic I Saw the Light. I emailed the photo to my dad, because this is probably the only movie this year we’ll be able to watch together and talk about, and he responded with, “He looks more like Hank Senior than that man who was Johnny Cash.” (That man being Joaquin Phoenix.) And it’s true, Hiddles is styled and posed for maximum resemblance, recreating this famous image of Williams. As always, though, the big concern is Hiddleston’s singing and whether or not it will be passable enough to not bring down the rest of the movie. I Saw the Light opens on November 27, so we ought to be seeing a trailer soon, which will give us a better idea of the singing situation.
Following up on a report earlier this summer that Hiddles and Elizabeth Olsen were hooking up, the two were spotted on an actual date in London. There was also a rumor— courtesy The National Enquirer, so, you know, use your judgment—that Olsen and Chris Evans were keeping it undercover on the set of Captain America: Civil War. The timing is sketchy, though, because just a couple weeks after The Enquirer’s story is when Olsen and Hiddles were on their date. Those are not mutually exclusive activities, though, and I have heard that Evans has a hook-up situation within the Marvel family, so choose your own adventure.
