Today in What PLANET Are You ON news, Alec Baldwin and his wife, notable Spanish Bostonian Hilaria, announced they are filming a reality series for TLC focused on their home life with their seven young children.

The show is tentatively called The Baldwins and is tentatively slated to premiere next year.

I say “tentatively” because Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is set to begin next month. Will “experiencing the ups and downs, the good the bad” of their home life include Alec being on trial? Probably not! But like, how can they avoid it? Alec has worked since the on set shooting incident that killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza, but nothing has been released since that October 2021 incident (including Rust, which has been completed).

I’m sure the media will cover the trial in detail this summer, as they have every step and stage of this judicial process over the last three years, but I wonder how hard the Baldwins will tap dance around it in their reality show. I can almost be convinced to watch this mess just to see them talk around Alec being on trial for involuntary manslaughter, but then I hear their brood shrieking and I lose all interest again. I am child-free on purpose, I did not choose a life of screaming toddlers.

Although I MIGHT have to tune in after all, to keep track of Hilaria’s Spanish accent. If you are somehow unaware, Alec’s second wife was born Hilary Hayward-Thomas in Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents moved to Spain when they retired, and Hilary then rechristened herself Hilaria. She says she was raised speaking Spanish at home and made frequent trips to Spain as a child, but I grew up travelling regularly to Mexico and 1) I don’t have an accent, and 2) I’m not Mexican. Vacations don’t count, Hilary.

Curiously, Hilaria’s accent is not really detectable in their announcement of the show. She still pronounces her name as “Ee-lahr-ee-ah”, which, whatever, but the distinct Spanish tone is gone. If you’re wondering what her Spanish accent sounds like, here you go:

“How do you say in English”, like girl, YOU’RE FROM BOSTON. It’s the MOST English part of America! In conclusion, I would 100% put up with screaming children if The Baldwins turns into an Unsolved Mysteries style deep dive into Hilaria’s vanishing Spanish accent.
