About 10 days before the Emmys, it was confirmed that Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt had broken up. In the days that followed we heard all kinds of gossip about what happened. Some say that it’s because he wants kids and she doesn’t. Others counter that she had to mother him and as soon as he got his sh-t together, after she picked up all his sh-t for 18 YEARS (!), he peaced out in search for new and fresh. On the weekend there was a memorial service for Mike Nichols. Jon and Jennifer showed up together and in one photo she’s holding on to his arm. Click here to see. It’s the first time they’ve been pictured together in months. And they would have been aware of photographers. It’s not like this took them by surprise. So I appreciate that they didn’t move like Leo and jump into a dumpster. In not doing so, they have to know that there would be speculation. Are they back together?
18 years is a life. In their case, it’s many lives. It’s youth, it’s pre-fame, it’s post-fame, it’s a lot to get over and have to move on from. Maybe they can’t move on from it at all. I just… I mean, I hope if they have reconciled that she’s sure. Because, again, it was 18 years. And you’d hate to see her put in even more than that and, you know, have to be the “mother” until retirement.
