The Han Solo spin-off is scheduled to open May 2018. That’s still far, far away. And we’re about a year away from production. So they have time and they’ve been taking their time finding Young Han. According to The Hollywood Reporter everyone within range has auditioned or sent tapes in. Everyone wants to be Han Solo. Apparently up to 2,500 actors have come through.
For The Force Awakens, they made a point of casting actors that we don't all know. In this case, for Han Solo, well, there are some names. Here is a list of the names who want to be considered.
Dave Franco
Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Miles Teller
Nick Robinson
Leo Howard
Tony Oller
Chandler Riggs
Hunter Parrish
Rami Malek
Landon Liboiron
Ed Westwick
Tom Felton
Joshua Sasse
Logan Lerman
Ansel Elgort
Jack Reynor
Colton Haynes
Max Thieriot
Ummmm. I hate almost all of them. Not personally, but with the exception of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and they are not my Han Solo.
Miles Teller? Please God, no. Also no to the guy I always confuse with Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort. And definitely f-ck no to Ed Westwick. Chuck Bass is not Han Solo, Jesus! Neither is Draco Malfoy, wtf????
I understand that there are benefits to casting a wide net but, um, there's also something to be said about being discerning.
As for Aaron Taylor-Johnson, he's definitely the class of this list. I'm not mad at that. I'm not mad at the idea of ATJ in a hat and a leather vest. But seriously, how are ATJ and Chuck Bass in the running for the same role?!
