We’re wrapping up Season 2 of the Show Your Work podcast with a classic and a casting update. How do you feel about Little Women? Are you like Duana and read it once a year? Do you watch the 1994 version starring Winona Ryder over and over again? It’s been reported that Greta Gerwig will be directing a reboot starring Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan, and Timothee Chalamet. Full Story

Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska: “the tiny horse you need right now”

A man arrives in town, leather-clad and spurs clanging, a guitar and a rifle slung across his back, Mysterious Stranger comes to town on Unknown Business. He bellies up to the bar and proceeds to…awkwardly twist out of his gear and order a drink in a reedy, vaguely creepy voice. So begins Damsel, the latest effort from the Zellner Bros. Full Story

Robert Pattinson has a new movie coming out next week, the quirky western Damsel in which he plays a lovelorn sap with a miniature horse named Butterscotch, trying to woo a woman who has no visible feelings for him. He co-stars with Mia Wasikowska, and they both turned out for the premiere last night. Full Story

Let’s interrupt our Jennifer Aniston divorce coverage with some shots of Robert Pattinson in yellow pants at the Berlin Film Festival with Mia Wasikowska. He does this once in a while… actually no, he does this specifically at this time. In Berlin! I just went back to last year and Robert’s appearance at the Berlinale in 2017 to promote The Lost City Of Z. Full Story

Tom Hiddleston (is wasted) in Crimson Peak

I didn’t like Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim as much as I wanted to, because no matter how cool it looks, the story is really dumb. And you can’t say “oh it’s just supposed to be fun” in an era where we’re seeing some really quality populist films, from Marvel and the Dark Knight trilogy, to the revival of Bond and Mission: Impossible, to movies like Inception and The Martian, that don’t draw a line between “popular” and “smart”. Full Story

Tom in street clothes

Tom Hiddleston, along with Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska, have been promoting Crimson Peak, opening wide this weekend. You know what’s/who’s missing from that equation? Charlie Hunnam! Charlie’s been in Belfast shooting The Lost City Of Z. You know what this means though? It means he doesn’t have to do any promotion until Knights Of The Round Table next year. Full Story

Mia Wasikowska as Madame Bovary

Sarah Posted by Sarah at June 19, 2015 17:46:49 June 19, 2015 17:46:49

Emma Bovary is never anything less than frustrating, so it’s fitting that the latest screen adaptation of Flaubert’s novel, Madame Bovary, should also be frustrating. Directed by Sophie Barthes and co-written by Barthes and Felipe Marino, Madame Bovary is a gorgeous film that is sometimes inspired and sometimes mundane, but is consistently frustrating. Full Story

Crimson Peak: I want to go there

Sarah Posted by Sarah at May 13, 2015 20:18:43 May 13, 2015 20:18:43

The first trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s much anticipated Crimson Peak introduced us to the creepy setting and not much else, but now the international trailer has arrived and it lays out a little more of the story. Mia Wasikowska plays a Victorian lady author who is interested in ghosts and the occult, and Tom Hiddleston seems to be her editor? Publisher? Still not clear. Full Story

Beware of Crimson Peak

Sarah Posted by Sarah at February 13, 2015 20:11:36 February 13, 2015 20:11:36

There’s a steadily growing swell of hype surrounding Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak, which released its first trailer today (spurred on by a bootleg copy making the rounds after it debuted in front of Fifty Shades of Grey last night—when will studios learn that they cannot stop this from happening and just release trailers BEFORE they’re slated to premiere in theaters?). Full Story
