Alexander Skarsgård is very busy. Murderbot premiered on Apple TV+ on Friday—eventually I will have a review!—and on the same weekend, he turned up at Cannes for the premiere of his new film, Pillion, co-starring Harry Melling (probably still best known as Dudley Dursley, but this guy has quietly been putting together an impressive CV over the last few years, including The Queen’s Gambit, Please Baby Please, and The Pale Blue Eye). Recently on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Skarsgård described Pillion as a “very graphic, kinky, gay biker film”. Okay!

Though the film premiered at Cannes, it didn’t have a gala premiere, which means no black tie, which means Skarsgård showed up in a vintage tee shirt, though one themed for the film—a boot stepping on a man smoking a cigarette.

Murderbot reminded me how f-cking hot Alexander Skarsgård is. I’ve really been enjoying his work lately, but let’s be honest, The Northman is not devoted to his hotness (like all Robert Eggers’ films, it is devoted to everyone looking like they have lice and smell like sh-t). At Cannes, though, Alexander is not beating the allegations, he looks VERY HOT and VERY TALL. Everything extremely online men long to be, yet unafraid to make a kinky queer movie. I love that for him and for us. Sex is back in the movies, baby!

Skarsgård didn’t keep it to one premiere, though. He also turned up at the premiere of The Phoenician Scheme, which was a black-tie gala.

Yes, he’s wearing those thigh-high Saint Laurent boots Pedro Pascal previously rocked. I want to see a dude try these boots without pants. Go full thigh-high, fellas, rock booty shorts and boots!

Speaking of Pedro, Skarsgård and Pedro set the internet ablaze with a little smooch at the Pillion premiere.

Neither of these guys are American born, they do not have our weird Puritanical hangups about dudes kissing each other on the cheek. I wouldn’t have thought twice about Notable European Alexander Skarsgård kissing ANYONE on the cheek except the internet got so horny about it over the weekend, which is just proof that people are starving for sexy movies like Pillion (I am convinced the “we don’t need sex scenes in movies” crowd is a vocal minority).

But wait, we’re not done, because Alexander ALSO turned up at the Eagles of the Republic premiere in sparkly blue pants and a pink bowtie.

He’s so handsome it’s easy to overlook, but Alexander Skarsgård is a delightfully weird guy. Along with his stylist Harry Lambert, he’s really leaning into a specific vision of sartorial eccentricity which is formal yet fun, and I am loving it. I can’t wait to see what he does with the Pillion press tour, whenever it happens.
