Last Wednesday, Angelina Jolie and Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, were papped leaving Giorgio Baldi separately, but right after the other, and it’s been confirmed that they were having dinner together. When two beautiful and famous people have dinner together, the assumption, always, is that it was more than dinner. In this case, since Abel has referenced Angelina before in his lyrics, it’s not a stretch to think he might have a crush on her. Dark hair and full lips, that seems to be his type: Bella, Selena, now Angelina?
According to PEOPLE though, it was a “friendly” dinner. “The Oscar-winning actress, 46, and the Grammy winner, 31, have known each other for some time and share a connection to Ethiopia, PEOPLE has learned.” Abel’s parents are Ethiopian and Zahara was born in Ethiopia. It’s not known whether or not that specifically is how they met but given their philanthropic interest, it’s a strong possibility.
That said, you can talk about charitable efforts without having to meet up for dinner. So could this be more than friendship? Whatever it is, if you’re a celebrity who spends enough time in Hollywood, you would know that Giorgio Baldi is not the place to go if you don’t want people to see you. Rihanna, for example, is frequently seen there. Every night, it seems, there’s at least one celebrity leaving there after dinner, from A to D list. Even Sean Penn goes to Giorgio Baldi. Which means the food is so good it’s worth getting papped for. But again, as I said, that’s the trade-off for the agnolotti. If Angelina and Abel had something they wanted to keep secret, as in themselves, together, Giorgio Baldi wouldn’t be the choice. Which is why I’m thinking there isn’t much more to this than just a meal between friends, although it certainly doesn’t hurt for either of them to have people talking about them like it could be a thing. For The Weeknd, who gives a sh-t about Grammy nominations when you’re having dinner with Angelina? And for Angelina, well, she’s on a date with Starboy.
