Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are officially legally single, but there are still unresolved issues in their divorce, over and above the custody situation. Of course it has to do with money and assets. The latest is a court filing by Angelina about Chateau Miraval, the estate and the winery. Miraval is, in my opinion, a good rosé. I have two bottles sitting at home right now, perfect for a summer afternoon. Right now, Angelina is still one of the co-owners with Brad but she wants out. And apparently she’s been trying to get him to buy her share from her but they haven’t been able to work out a deal and now she’s asking a judge to intervene so that she can sell her stake to a third party. You can read more details about the situation at The Blast. Let’s focus now on some of the takeaways from Angelina’s request.
According to The Blast:
“After getting divorced, the two stars faced “marital disagreements” regarding the “management of the assets,” which included “substantial expenditures being incurred based on the unilateral directive of Mr. Pitt.”
Angelina’s lawyers wrote in the court filing that:
“After all these years of trying to extricate herself from being business partners with her ex-husband on acceptable financial terms, Ms. Jolie is extremely desirous of closing the pending agreement for the sale of (her half of the estate.)” In the filing, Angelina says she is at the mercy of Brad, who controls the situation, and is eager to remove herself from being a “disregarded business partner with her ex-husband.”
Sounds like Angelina and her team are claiming that even though she’s one of the owners, she has no say in the management of Miraval and that the decisions that Brad has made about Miraval have cost her money, which is why she considers herself a “disregarded business partner”. Her position is that since she’s being left out of how the place is run, and even still it costs her, she doesn’t want anything to do with it anymore… despite the fact that, well, there are a LOT of memories here.

Remember what happened at Chateau Miraval last year? Remember Nicole Poturalski? Brad took Nicole there basically on the Brange wedding anniversary. Jennifer Aniston wasn’t kidding when she said he was “missing a sensitivity chip”.
So the emotional attachment for Angelina now might be more like an emotional DE-tachment. Whatever memories there are at Miraval aren’t worth her wanting to have her name on the place.
