Angelina Jolie and her youngest daughter, Vivienne, got involved as producers of the musical adaptation of The Outsiders at least in part because Vivienne is, apparently, a musical theater nerd. Well, the theater kid strikes again as Angelina and Vivienne went to the premiere of a revival of Reefer Madness The Musical in Los Angeles yesterday. Angelina wore giant movie star sunglasses and an ironic tee shirt.

The premiere also brought out the likes of Neve Campbell, Sherry Cola, Seth Green, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kristen Bell, and Lake Bell. Lake Bell is so cool, I am now dreaming about her and Angelina Jolie becoming cool Hollywood mom friends.

As for Vivienne, there’s something vaguely 70s-esque about her outfit, which is fitting as the 1936 film Reefer Madness experienced a revival in the 1970s when it became a cult classic, celebrated as one of the worst films ever made and also a legendary piece of exploitation cinema. Vivienne the theme dresser really IS a theater kid, with a flair for scene setting, I guess.

And, look, it’s not that I haven’t seen the story about Shiloh filing to legally drop “Pitt” from her name, it’s just that I’m not 100% comfortable with how these kids get weaponized in the court of public opinion amidst their parents’ ongoing custody battle. There’s a lot that can be examined about how Angelina and Brad Pitt use the media and the court of public opinion for themselves, but the kids aren’t out here making statements, and the only reason we know about Shiloh is because TMZ literally has stringers who peruse court filings for famous names. She didn’t issue a press release about it.

Of course, the comeback is that Angelina is constantly photographed with the kids, they go everywhere with her, etc, making them part of her media persona, but then the comeback to the comeback is why isn’t Brad ever seen with them, and then here we are, arguing their court case on the internet, and I do not enjoy that. I DO enjoy little Vivienne the baby producer making her mom take her to musicals and planning her outfits accordingly. Theater kids will always dress for the occasion!
