Anne Hathaway: An All-Time Bomber
Anne Hathaway has been in Italy the last couple of weeks working on The Devil Wears Prada 2. She was photographed in Lake Como with her family (not pictured) during some downtime and the only thing I want to talk about is her bomber jacket. Because it’s an all-timer.
A bomber jacket, in my opinion, is a wardrobe staple. It goes great with almost anything – over jeans, a skirt, over a maxi dress or sweats. Bombers, of course, range in quality and detail but in my opinion, the best bombers on the market, like for style and not necessarily function (if you’re actually a pilot), are made by Sacai. As I said when I first launched our ShopMy page, with a Sacai bomber, I’m partial to Japanese brands and Sacai is the Japanese brand I wear the most. Our stylist, Simone Faloona, for any event, always looks first to Sacai when pulling together looks for me to try. The Sacai aesthetic is my aesthetic, which is why I knew, immediately, that the bomber Annie is wearing in Lake Como was Sacai, brand new for the season.
With Sacai, it’s often the panels that give it away. And the layers and levels. As you can see on Annie, it’s like a jacket on top of a jacket, but then at the back, there’s also an added flap. It’s SO f-cking fresh. It’s SO f-cking Sacai. And it’s SO f-cking expensive, even more expensive than Sacai usually is. If you’re in the market though, you can get it here.
But seriously, any Sacai jacket is a beauty. And there are a few on sale right now. Here’s a pretty standard Sacai, short in front and longer in back, that’s over half off.
I wore this one a few months ago for an interview and it’s badass– not a traditional bomber but bomber coded and also a little like a hunting vest, on sale but low on availability.
I also wore this one in green, a cross between a bomber and a hoodie that goes great over jeans. And this is a good deal for a Sacai piece.
In the same khaki green colour but more pure bomber, less hoodie, there’s this option that’s almost 70% of f.
If you like the colour but not the price, Aritzia has a bomber right now that’s much more affordable and also comes in black.
I just tried on this gold bomber for an upcoming outside shoot. It’s from Zendaya’s ON collection, I love the exaggerated sleeve, it’s cute AF.
And I couldn’t do one of these without mentioning Gap because… as I keep saying over and over again… Gap is the sh-t right now. This is a longer bomber that’s cut like a grandfather cardigan, which is a cute twist. Also 40% off at checkout right now.
Finally, I wore this shell bomber from Zara several times, in both colours, during TIFF and was complimented all over the place. This is a good price for a piece that you can wear through the fall and then again in the spring and summer.
