Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were seen together on Sunday in Miami at the COPA America final between Argentina and Colombia. Fans at the match captured video of them sitting side-by-side in a suite so now there’s all kinds of speculation about whether or not they’re back together, again.
The last time they were back together was at Coachella 2023. That lasted a couple of months and earlier this year, she talked about it on Call Her Daddy, saying that she’s an impulsive person and she didn’t want to live with the questions so she just went for it and it ended up being a “fun moment” that, eventually, had to come to end.
"It wasn't even a decision, I think you are just kind of like, "Yeah this doesn't really—it's not a fit,'" she confirmed. "It doesn't feel right. I think luckily, I was in a place in my life where it took me less time to realize that—and it took us both less time to be like, ‘This doesn't feel right and we don't really need to try so hard to make it work. It's all good. This is not feeling good, like ‘Let's be friends, I love you. It's all good, let's move on.'"
But no hard feelings.
"I will always care about him and love him, he's such a good person," she continued. "I'm lucky cause some people have exes who are awful—and he is not. He's a really kind, good person."
Cut back to Sunday and they’re both at the game, arriving separately. And someone was real quick to run to PEOPLE to clarify that “they were there coincidentally” so what we can take away for sure is that whatever’s going on here, they want us to think it’s nothing, at least for now.
Is it really nothing, though, when a coincidence resulted in them being in the same suite? Is it coincidence that he was in Miami when he lives in Los Angeles? Was he that hard up to go to the football game that he flew across the country? Maybe he had other business in Miami. But, you know, Miami is where they were in lockdown together so… memories. Memories + young + single + summer + … album?
Camila’s most recent album, C, XOXO, was released late last month. You heard anything about it? I’m asking because no one’s really talking about it much. It hasn’t been charting well. Last week Forbes called it a “disappointing new low”. Not sure it’s really popping off on socials either. So, you know, if we’re talking about coincidences, is it also awfully convenient that we’re talking about her love life when she needs a boost for her music?
