We are well-conditioned for the “I’M IN ITALY” photo dumps, it happens every summer on Instagram. This year feels a little more muted on that front – maybe celebs are reading the room and not flaunting their vacations? I’m not sure.
Kate Hudson and Dakota Johnson were in Rome, Shay Mitchell in Florence, Dua Lipa in Palermo, Leonardo DiCaprio was spotted playing tennis with his girlfriend, Vittoria Ceretti (she didn’t post it, obviously). And yet…no Clooney sightings, as far as I know. Maybe Amal is too busy with work for a long vacation. (Update from Emily: The Clooneys are in Italy! Brand new photos were just released today and they are attached below.)
I recently finished Sticks (which stars Marc Maron) and enjoyed it; there’s a bit of a Ted Lasso underlay to the “men expressing their emotions through sports” theme. But Sticks commits to creative choices that most comedies (I think it’s a comedy – maybe a dramedy?) wouldn’t and it’s the better for it. It also helps that no one does loveable f-ck up better than Owen Wilson. No one!
Chrissy Teigen is leaning all the way into the early aughts with this look. Skimpy sandal, oversized sunglasses and a ludicrously capacious bag.
I’m not getting into the JaNa and Kenny breakup (I’m sure Stephanie will!) but I did watch a few episodes of After the Villa. No one could have predicted how much this particular Love Island cast was going to blow up and the interesting part of the aftermath is the soul-crushing work of being an influencer. Some of the cast is built for that life, and some people can’t stand living in LA and hustling for brand partnerships. It’s also interesting to watch people who are clearly struggling (like Aaron) and can’t escape this kind of bizarro world; the online vitriol makes them feel like the entire world hates them, so they have no choice but to stay in the bubble.
LANDMAN who lives on the LAND and is MAN. Probably the dumbest show on TV, I will watch every episode of season two. At least Sam Elliot will be there, that makes me feel a little better about it.
May your weekend be filled with the confidence of Martha Stewart in the make-up chair.
