If the Teyana Taylor and Aaron Pierre hard launch last week wasn’t enough of a fantasy come true, here comes another… possibly. 

 

Michael B Jordan’s The Thomas Crowne Affair update has been in development for a while. He will direct and star in the project and ever since the project was announced, there’s been all kinds of speculation about who his co-star would be, because Thomas Crowne isn’t just a heist film, it’s a romance. I LOVED the 1999 movie starring Pierce Brosnan but it was Rene Russo who made the movie. So the female lead is critical. 

 

Last Friday it was confirmed that Taylor Russell had landed the part. According to Deadline, there was an extensive search and Taylor’s audition process was thorough – auditions, meetings, and a screen test with MBJ in London in January. And now, officially, it’s her. Filming begins in the summer and will take place in London. Before that, MBJ has to promote Sinners, his new movie with Ryan Coogler which opens April 18. 

As the producer, director, and star though, obviously there’s a lot of prep work and it would make sense for MBJ to be spending as much time as possible in London. And Taylor Russell lives in London. So… it’s not, like, totally surprising for them to be seen together in London, right? 

 

Still. I know where my mind is going and you know where your mind is going and…are they just colleagues… or more? 

 

I mean, not that I have a say in the matter but, like, I f-cking hope so. And I’ll repeat what I wrote last week in my post about Teyana and Aaron Pierre, MBJ and Taylor Russell are a couple we may not have even dared to Gossip Genie because it’s too right… right? Again, this for now is just a possibility, not a certainty. There’s a legit work reason for them to be hanging out. But it’s also very, very, very good for gossip. 

And… to go back to the movie… 

There was already a high level of anticipation for MBJ to be taking this on. The Thomas Crowne Affair is smart and sexy and slick. It’s push pull, hide and seek, cat and mouse, until you don’t really know where the cat ends and the mouse begins because they’re one is inside the other, LOL. What I’m trying to say is that this story is horny AF and everything hinges on the chemistry. And I can already picture it between MBJ and Taylor.
