Is Boston Blue the first Blue Bloods spinoff? I think it is. A CBS procedural set in the big city, focused on law enforcement, salt-of-the-earth families and filmed in Toronto? Sounds like a 30 Rock joke. These types of franchises aren’t new (hello, Law & Order and CSI) and in way are the backbone of network TV. 

That brings me to Jimmy Kimmel’s tweet about “f-ck your Sheldons.” There are many “Sheldons” – but is that the problem? I don’t think franchises are the main issue with the current network system; those shows are a great way to keep the lights on. The Sheldons and the CSIs have crew, writers, drivers, craft services etc. and create just as many jobs as The Late Show. As Sarah wrote this morning, Paramount is getting rid of its late night offering and it has a lot to do with politics and stakeholders, not competition from other TV shows or budget.

If you are interested in how something like The Late Show cancellation happens, I cannot recommend Hacks enough, particularly season four.

It’s not just Paramount that is going through it  – Warner Brothers is also in a spiral and it’s showing at HGTV. There have been multiple cancellations, including around their biggest stars (in terms of name recognition) like Christina Haack, who has parlayed her audience into PEOPLE magazine fame. It doesn’t look good for the network; is this nearly the end of home renovation shows? 

Yesterday, I wrote about Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti and there were some photos of them on a yacht. I’m very interested in Leo’s accessory, wired earbuds. I’ve given up on cordless buds that fall out. I only listen to music when I am walking and don’t want to fiddle with them. Same with on an airplane, if one of those suckers goes down, it is very hard to find. We gave cordless a chance, it didn’t work out. 

And more on these photos, which we’ve seen different versions of every summer (Leo on a yacht with a model and his friends). This time something is slightly different in the vibes: Vittoria is not smiling in the pap shots. I love this for her. She is not quite serving c-nt yet but she’s only 26, so there’s lots of time to fully get there.
