My favourite story of the day. Maybe I’m delirious from the altitude here in Utah with all the nosebleeds I’ve been getting but when this report came across my blackberry earlier, I could barely contain myself.

Aretha Franklin has cancelled her wedding to her William Wickerson. It’s the statement they released that cracked me up:

"Regretfully, To Our Friends and Supporters: Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time. We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."

Aretha is 69 years old. The notion of a 69 year old moving too fast in love is... I dunno, maybe the best thing I’ve ever heard.

Putting aside for a minute the obvious prenup implications here, and yes, Aretha is smarter than JLo, how do you picture Aretha and her “forever friend” in an accelerated situation that needs to be halted?
