As Seen On Social Media: Everybody Wants This damn wardrobe
Did Goop x Brat kinda fall flat?
Charli XCX appeared on the Goop podcast, I’m guessing it was recorded around the time Charli posted this photo dump (Gwyneth gifted her an organic apple). The interview is fine, it’s two celebrities talking to each other about themselves. I get the feeling GP’s team is looking for viral interviews, like the ones Amy Poehler does, but she’s not a strong interviewer.
A request came in for this grey sweater and I really like the asymmetrical shoulder. But it confused me because she’s worn a very similar sweater (see the photo of below of her biting into an apple, presumably the same organic one GP brought her), but it doesn’t have the buttons. The good news is both pieces are from the same brand – Woodrose Deli Asymmetrical Wool Blend Sweater and the Alexia dress in oat. Both are under US$200. The brand is based in Brooklyn, here’s a story on the founder Suki Ma.
Lori Harvey’s perfect plaid
Someone sent a request for Lori Harvey (Jacek in fake-nose-and-moustache glasses), specifically for her plaid shirt. (I am calling it plaid, but the design notes say checkered.) She tagged Balenciaga, but that’s the bag.
The shirt is from Bottega Veneta and, get this, it’s over $8000. Kate Moss wore it on the runway. Look, I’m all for slow fashion and this is leather, so it’s not like a flannel shirt. But let’s be for real. This is an $8000 SHIRT. At some point we have to recognize this is nonsense. Or we don’t, because there’s only one left at Mr. Porter.
Here's a light blue plaid shirt in wool from Pendleton – and it’s still $400! Light blue plaid is not easy to find - Aritzia also does a checkered shirt in darker blue tones, for $75.
A note on the Nobody Wants This wardrobe
The second season wasn’t great but the requests are pouring in for the wardrobe, for all of the characters. A lot of pieces the women are wearing are from Favorite Daughter (it’s Sara and Erin Fosters clothing line). For specifics, there’s a lot of TV tracking sites like Worn on TV (a great resource) and Elle and Cosmopolitan also did a deep dive. If you are really stumped and none of these sites have it, it might be custom made. Hit me up and I can try to find it.
