As Seen on Social Media: Gwyneth’s very expected fall bag, Katie Holmes’s unexpected fall jacket

Yesterday, Lainey posted a few photos of Gwyneth Paltrow teaching Parisians how to be snobby. She is wearing the quintessential Goop outfit and I was asked specifically about her cross-body bags from someone desperately searching for a good fall find. Gwyneth’s is The Row from a previous season (this season, they are showing more totes and bindle bags). As for a cross-body, can I just say the bags are boring me this year? It’s like quiet luxury overload and while I don’t want a Christian Dior monogram, I think there needs to be a balance. That said, this particular reader asked for luxury and if I were shopping in that price range, I’d browse Toteme bags - buttery, understated and rich. Add Jil Sander to that list too, particularly the mini flap. 

But for fun, I’d go with this red Prada bucket bag.

Katie Holmes’s pop of pink

Before I get yelled at, everything is expensive this week! The celebs are showing off all of their new clothes and the price points are high. That said, if anyone wants a dupe or is looking for something specifically budget-conscious (whoooo isn’t right now), email me. 

From the woman who brought us boyfriend jeans and the Khaite cashmere bra, here’s Katie Holmes in a bit of an unexpected colour scheme for fall with a green jacket and hot pink. I love the combo because pink is not really a “fall” shade and it works so well here, even though brown or rust is a more expected choice.

Both pieces are by Marfa Stance. Yes both, because the jacket and collar are sold separately, with the latter on pre-order. I’m into the idea because if it’s raining (it’s always raining here), you can pull the collar off if you are expecting to get wet. Or add the collar to a different jacket, like a denim bomber (I can’t tell from the photos if its adaptable to other designs so don’t quote me on that!). But the look doesn’t come cheap: the collar is on pre-order for $275 and the quilted coat in sage is $1395. If I could whistle, I would do it now. 

Will Katie launch another trend this year? Is the signature collar the new signature necklace? TBD. 

Oh and the bag is the customizable L.L. Bean boat tote, I have three. They are the best bags because you can customize everything from the pockets to the straps. And very durable, you can beat the sh-t out of this bag and it only gets better. 

Mandy Moore’s floral dress

Mandy Moore dresses real cute for her podcast, often in a dress so that must be her comfort lane. I have a request for this purple floral dress and it is the Naia dress by Ulla Johnsson. And it’s still available on Net-a-Porter! That never happens! Happy shopping, Maddie. 

TWO for Taylor

OK I’m behind on two Taylor Swift requests and like I always say - I can’t beat the Swifties. The two requests were for her US Open sunglasses and her red boots. Done and done.
