Jennifer Garner’s striped tee

Jennifer Garner has had a busy week taking Violet to college and unfortunately for her, with the news of Bennifer 2.0, she will be an increased pap target for the next little while. One thing this woman has is patience.

The t-shirt is Ralph Lauren and there’s no active options in stock. I’ve seen a few “Jennifer Garner t-shirt dupe” articles and a lot of them get it wrong because they are featuring white t-shirts with black stripes. This is a black t-shirt with white stripes and it’s slightly cropped. Big difference. I haven’t found one that is satisfactory. Striped shirts are serious business, I don’t just recommend anything.

Speak on it, Chloe Fineman

Maybe it’s the Gen X in me, but “capsule wardrobes” have always been the height of restrained affluence in fashion. We’ve seen the magazine graphics – two white shirts, striped shirt, jeans, black pants, a sophisticated coat, a grey cardigan. The goal is a core wardrobe that you rotate endlessly. The thing is, it’s a lie. Chloe explains here.

It NEVER ends. “You only need this one…” and “You’ll wear this forever…” Bitch how does anyone know what they will wear FOREVER?!!!! We don’t have to stay married forever, that is what divorce is for. But I’m supposed to commit to a shoe forever???

Now, my capitalist lizard brain doesn’t speak for everyone because I’m a big browser, I love browsing! More than I love buying. There are a lot of people who want a standardized wardrobe, something to wear every day without a fuss. Dressing should spark an emotion and if that emotional need is clarity or rootedness or stability, then a capsule wardrobe could be the answer.

But that isn’t to say it’s capsule wardrobe or mindless consumerism, with no in between. Many people (me included) have a cyclical wardrobe. For me this is all about the rotation; we wear some things to death until they fall apart or we get sick of the sight of it. We add new pieces and consign or donate pieces that don’t excite us anymore – it’s a constant negotiation with our closet. The idea of the capsule is that it makes you more adult, more organized, more “together” but not every woman needs a tan trench coat.

And with that, I leave you with this Vogue piece from six days ago on, you guessed it, building a capsule wardrobe. If everyone had a capsule wardrobe, Vogue wouldn’t exist.

Before you ask, Chloe’s sweater is La Ligne.

Beyoncé’s Whisky Debut

I’m flattered that anyone thinks I know more than the Beyhive about their Queen B, I do not! I was asked about her look here and before I could even google it, the fandom had it covered.

Second Billionaire of the Day

Sarah linked to the Zuckerberg statue last week but have you seen it?

She’s not dressed up for the unveiling or a big ceremony, she’s in a literal housecoat. A really good housecoat; it’s the Offhours Homecoat in Lunar and now on backorder. This is a great lounging coat and honestly? I would wear this outside! Not to walk around my sprawling compound, just to pick up my Amazon packages. (I prefer the Affogato though.)
