Kate Hudson: One of 2024’s most-wanted

Thinking back over the last year, there are a few names that consistently pop up in my inbox: Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift (the obvious ones) and Kate Hudson is up in the numbers as well. Keep in mind this is purely anecdotal and not hard data – what am I, a scientist?

I think the reason Kate’s style gets so much attention is that she is out all the time - at parties, at premieres, she’s papped, she posts on social media. Kate Hudson likes to be seen and she’s never sour that her social and professional business leads to a lot of attention. She grew up with two movie stars so getting papped is part of the family business.

I have three items from a wish list; two I’ve got, the third is a maybe.

Let’s start with the maybe: there’s the scarf seen in this photo. The internet wants me to believe it’s Paul Smith (this one in particular) and I disagree because Kate’s doesn’t have a fringe and the stripes are not gradient. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the difference between a pashmina and a scarf and still don’t know, which comes down to weave and material. Kate’s scarf (pashmina?) gets that big billowy look and looks like a fine knit. Personally this is my favourite kind of scarf, I don’t want to be choked by wool. I like that with a square, you can drape it, loop it, tie it – whatever. I think this is something she just saw in a store and picked up, not a standard designer.

Next, the leopard print coat seen in this carousel is by Balenciaga. I too love the ¾ sleeves, a very underrated feature on a coat. (Before anyone asks, the boots are Stuart Weitzman.)

Finally there’s this shimmery green tasselled look (second slide), absolutely perfect for holiday parties but not too on-the-nose costumey – it’s by Zimmerman. (Couldn’t find it in Canada – rude!)

Blake Lively’s tumultuous 2024

Maybe Blake wouldn’t describe her 2024 as tumultuous but from a gossip perspective, she’s been all over the place because of It Ends With Us. Even as we head into the last few weeks of 2024 she and Ryan are in the news for Ryan saying she’s “working class” (and not in a fun way, like the Beckhams).

I get a few requests for her but not a lot because she’s often very designer-focused, particularly Chanel. This pink sweater is super cute and a great choice for this video – it’s Guest In Residence (Gigi Hadid’s line) and not currently available.
