Austin Butler isn’t a household name. Yet. With Baz Luhrman’s Elvis biopic on the horizon, and a fancy historical war epic looming (Masters of the Air, about WWII-era bomber pilots and co-starring fellow rising stars Barry Keoghan and Callum Turner), it’s only a matter of time before Austin Butler is everywhere—at the movies, on our TVs, and, probably, all over the gossip blogs (he’s currently dating second-gen celebrity Kaia Gerber, a spotlight-friendly relationship, for sure). The paparazzi are already taking notice. Here are shots of Austin out and about in Los Angeles yesterday.

The casting directors are busy with Austin, too. On the heels of learning that Florence Pugh is up for a major role in Dune 2—still hoping they call this movie Dune Part Deunx—the latest word is that Austin Butler is in talks for the role of Feyd-Rautha, the nephew and heir of Baron Harkonnen, the corpulent slug-man played by Stellan Skarsgard in the first movie. If you’re an early-to-it Austin Butler stan worried he’ll be saddled with a similar slug-look, don’t be. This is the role Sting played in the David Lynch version, and he looked like himself, barring the haircut. You know, starting with Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Timothee Chalamet, and Zendaya, and continuing with maybe Florence Pugh and Austin Butler, Dune is an extremely hot franchise. Why don’t we talk about it as such? Is it because Stellan Skarsgard’s body horror is SO extreme it cancels out everything else? Or because Oscar Isaac’s salt-and-pepper space daddy look took up all air in the room?
