As always, Bad Bunny kicked off the new season of Saturday Night Live by making it clear who his audience is and performing for them. It was expected in the monologue and he did indeed address the Super Bowl and made fun of all the people who are big mad about it, even though the league has been prioritising its Latino fan base for a while now because this is the demographic with the most growth. And if you don’t think there’s some overlap between that audience and Bad Bunny’s fandom, you’re deliberately not engaging with the truth.

That said, Benito’s popularity extends way beyond American football. Being a global streaming king means exactly that: global. And this is why even when he’s hosting a show airing on North American television, that’s usually in English, the episode was tailored to him and his community, not just the monologue. The best example of this was “El Chavo del Ocho”. And as SNL captioned on the post, “iykyk”.

I don’t know but I do understand that it wasn’t for me and there are SO MANY PEOPLE who do know. This is the most-viewed post out of all the TikTok posts from this week’s SNL and even though it happened near the end of the show, I’m willing to bet that Benito insisted it would not be on the “cut for time” list, that he let Lorne know that this one, no matter what, had to make it to air. And look how it paid off with all that social media activity. When people feel seen, they will show up.

When Benito wasn’t repping his culture, he was appreciating others. Like when he played a Kpop Demon Hunters superfan and then Huntr/x showed up. Bowen Yang was also in this sketch, as Jinu LOL – and btw, this is the second most-viewed clip from the episode on TikTok.

A Bad Bunny and Huntr/x crossover?! Let the fandoms unite for the honmoon!

Amazingly though, because he’s such a f-cking star, this wasn’t Bowen’s best character of the night! His list of update all-time moments just keeps growing and growing and growing.

Did you see Bowen giggling and jumping up and down with Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami during the credits? It was adorable, such a huge moment for all of them. Kpop Demon Hunters made SNL – are you still not convinced?! Ejae, Audrey, and Rei will be on The Tonight Show tomorrow to perform “Golden” in full for the first time live, keeping the movie and the song in the Oscar conversation into fall and, hopefully, winter.

What else happened today…

Julia Roberts was in a pink re-wear for the LA premiere of After the Hunt – what do you think of the slight adjustment that was to the dress? (Go Fug Yourself)

They’re giving Louis CK standing ovations now and I appreciate what Dustin Rowles says here, reminding us about the women who called him out and how they must be feeling. Because I don’t think we spend enough time considering that for many of them, they literally had to give up a career in comedy, walk away from their dreams, because he was that disgusting and that powerful.  (Pajiba)

Any Rush fans out there? Geddy Lee was seen at the Blue Jays game this weekend and now this news: Rush reunion tour in 2026. (Variety)

Right now, the words “Eldest Daughter” are mostly associated with one musician. But there’s an album called The Eldest Daughter for queer eldest daughters that is worth checking out. This is Gatlin’s debut and hopefully she gets a boost from the title similarity. (Autostraddle)
