Red Hair hid the Nails
All the attention yesterday was focused on Blake Lively's new red hair following her appearane at the Time 100 Most Influential People of 2011 gala. So much so that it obscured another detail. Thanks to Lorraine for the email pointing this out.
Look at her nails.
Is Barbra Streisand coming back?
This how my ma wears her nails. Even in the hospital. The polish has come off and I can't find a mobile service to come pamper her by her bedside but if I could, she'd file them all pointy oval like Blake's and have a layer of sparkle painted on over top - it's her forever nail steeze.
My ma is 61. I was born in 1973. Katie Morosky loved Hubbell in 1973. Oh you kids. You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?
Anyway, my point is that Blake is not my ma at 61...but she may be trying to ressurect The Way We Were... I guess?
Blake claims to self style but you know, she has advisors now. She wouldn't go rogue on her nail length if she hadn't received approval from the people who approve of her. Which...
They're gross. And what a pain in the ass to type on long nails. Most people use a computer/laptop/Apple/iPad situation these days, non? I mean... trend is borne of technology too, isn't it? We are constant communicators. Long nails now are simply not practical. Imagine sending a text message with those claws? Ridiculous.
Why do I care so much? I'm a nail person. As in my nails are almost perfectly manicured all the time. It's my thing. Some people do eyebrows, others have facials, I like nails. And I can make a good manicure last forever. Ask Duana. She is constantly flummoxed over the fact that my nails still look the same, with growth, after 10 days when she chips hers within a matter of hours. So, with Blake and all her fashion connections and her "Influence", am being told that Nail Style is going Long?
Because if so...
I REFUSE.
