Holiday Blake and a trial delay
There was an update in the Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni case today. Judge Liman is pushing back the start of the trial – it was originally supposed to begin in March and is now rescheduled to May because he has two criminal trials to preside over, explaining that "as important as this case is … criminal trials take precedent." Makes sense to me. I’m not sure how anyone can spin this in any one side’s favour but, you know, the internet moves in mysterious ways. I’m sure the analysis and the conspiracy theories are already lighting up on YouTube and TikTok.
According to PEOPLE the judge also “told the parties to contact a specific magistrate judge to discuss a settlement”. A settlement at this point since, remember, Justin Baldoni’s countersuit against Blake has been dismissed, would be Justin paying Blake. He is not suing her, he tried but the judge dismissed his claims. The judge also dismissed his claim against the New York Times. So the lawsuit that we’re talking about right now is the one we started with, almost a year ago now. It’s been that long and now it’ll be two months more. Unless, again, a settlement can be reached.
Blake stepped out today making her first public appearance in a while – at a promotional event for Stoney Clover Lane in New York City. I have never been to a Stoney Clover Lane but it looks like there’s a lot of Swiftie crossover here with who the products are marketed to. This is a place for people who make and exchange friendship bracelets, for sure. Which tabloid or TikTok creator will be first to see an Easter egg between this store and Blake and Taylor’s friendship?
Blake is wearing a very Blake Lively outfit – reverse corset dress and green jewels with matching shoes. It’s very on-the-Rudolph-nose.
What else happened today…
Grief is complicated and there is no one way to grieve. There is also comedy in grief – which Conan O’Brien and Will Arnett are illuminating in a recent episode of Conan’s podcast. This is legitimately hilarious and heartwarming, in a way that few people can pull off. Conan is SO gifted.(Pajiba)
Tilda Swinton in a pink and red outfit that I want. It’s that f-cking perfect Chanel shirt from Mathieu Blazy’s first collection. (GoFugYourself)
The Ringer counts down the 10 best TV shows of the year. In the #1 spot is a show that has been universally acclaimed and will probably not win a single award. This, to me, is so frustrating. (The Ringer)
Angelina Jolie is returning to action – and it’s about time! (Celebitchy)
Tig Notaro is also doing action – hot lesbian action! (Autostraddle)
