In purely coincidental timing, yesterday The Hollywood Reporter, er, reported that Lupita Nyong’o is the latest A-lister to sign up for Christopher Nolan’s mysterious new film. Coincidental because Lupita is, of course, linked to John Krasinksi through the Quiet Place franchise, though he did not write or direct the film in which she stars, Day One, which is the best film in the franchise (so far), another pure coincidence of things linked to John Krasinski.

But we’re here for the real star, Lupita. She is joining Nolan’s film, which also stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Zendaya. Looks like Nolan is assembling another ensemble, one with multi-generational reach. Color me intrigued! The film is set for a July 2026 release date and is supposed to start filming in the “first half” of 2025. Timing is tricky, though, because Tom Holland and Zendaya are both insanely busy. They’re cramming Nolan’s film in amongst Spider-Man 4 and other obligations, such as Zendaya’s obligation to Euphoria.

Yes, Euphoria season three is still happening, despite previous reports that the third season was tanked. Filming is supposed to begin in January for an eight-episode season. When asked for a comment on its inevitable production, Euphoria season three had this to say:

Presumably, Zendaya will start on Euphoria first, then go straight to some unholy mashup of Nolan’s movie and Spider-Man 4, which is also dated for July 2026. I don’t see how she and Holland avoid overlapping production schedules, given the films will be released in the same month. That sets them up on parallel production tracks to meet essentially the same deadline.

But back to Lupita. I am just so happy to see her booked and busy, and having a great year. A Quiet Place: Day One was a hit, The Wild Robot is one of the standouts in a VERY good year for animated cinema—Lupita is supporting the film on the trophy trail, which means we’ll be seeing a lot of her over the next few months—and now she’s joining Nolan’s newest circus. Love to see a busy lady thriving.

Speaking of The Wild Robot, here is a throwback to Lupita and the sexiest man alive in my heart, Pedro Pascal, at the film’s London premiere. We coulda had it all, etc etc.
