As we see at the end, after the credits, Nick Fury makes a distress call (page?) before he…um… you know. And then a symbol comes up on the screen, it’s the symbol for Captain Marvel. I don’t know sh-t about Captain Marvel’s backstory but I have been able to pick up, through covering movie news, that she hangs out in the 90s or something and can time travel? The Captain Marvel movie comes out in March 2019, two months before Avengers 4. Which means that what we learn in the movie about her will be critical to what we found out in Avengers 4. Which likely means that she’ll be one of the keys to the Avengers assembling to defeat Thanos once and for all, especially if she has anything to do with Time, which would then explain why Doctor Strange did what he did because “it was the only way”. Sure. But they should also probably explain, if she’s so special, why she couldn’t have come over to Wakanda and helped out. It’s not like they couldn’t have used her.
You remember Okoye’s reaction when Wanda joined the action? Remember the look on Okoye’s face? And what she said? Why the f-ck was she chillin’ up in the lab if she could can do THAT?!
Sarah’s probably exhaling in frustration with all my entry-level questions. Sorry, Sarah. What I should say here is that the MCU has clearly thought of all of this in advance. Because in this movie, Rocket’s spare eye obviously came in handy. So they’re aware of how everything should be knitted together. Which I appreciate. I’m just… impatient.
Here are Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson in Atlanta this weekend working on Captain Marvel. As you can see, Sam doesn’t have an eye patch. So I guess he loses his eye in her origin story. And I should mention that she too was seen in Atlanta last fall when they were shooting Avengers 4.
