The One and Only Ivan premieres on Disney+ this weekend and… this cast. Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Danny DeVito, Philippa Soo… Chaka Khan! So I really want to watch it. But I’m also afraid of it. Because it’s about animals and I don’t know if my miniscule heart can handle it. That said, this is a movie for kids – and it’s not like Disney is here to traumatise children but then again, children are arguably more resilient than adults. TELL ME WHAT TO DO! 

 

Ivan’s been getting some solid reviews and even critics who’ve called the film uneven have praised the performances, including Angelina’s and I’m always here for Angelina who plays Stella the elephant in the film. In an interview with ET, Angelina says that it was daughter Shiloh who first read the book on which the movie is based and told her about it. From there, Angelina wanted to know if there were adaptation plans and then followed the process from development to production.

During filming, Angelina worked closely with young actor Brooklynn Prince who plays Ruby, a baby elephant. (See? I CAN’T.) Brooklynn is the one who suggested to Angie that they should wear elephant onesies while recording when they saw each other at the Critics’ Choice Awards in 2018:

Attaching another interview with Angelina because I’m so into the energy she has in this one, seated comfortably with her leg up which I’ve always found to be a super sexy body position, especially for women. I don’t know what it is, but whenever I see a shot of someone with one leg up like this, I find it incredibly attractive. And already, with that face of hers (she looks SO good right now), it’s even more impossible to take your eyes off her. 

But how about all these projects Angelina has going, one after another, with Disney? I’ve been saying for over a year now that this has very smartly cultivated this relationship, especially since initially after the big breakup, there were all kinds of suggestions that she was unpopular in the industry. Again, she got Disney in the divorce. Who in this town doesn’t want that Disney money?!
