Now here is some actual glamour. The Jacquemus fall/winter show was held at Versailles over the weekend. It’s hilarious to me that the site of the one of the world’s most famous revolutions, in which the peasants literally carted the royal family out of their palace and straight to jail, has become the setting of events like haute couture runway shows. I get it, Versailles is stunning. There’s not a bad angle on that place, and the gardens are beautiful (the show was held in the orangery). But it’s some level of ironic that Versailles has become synonymous with wealth and displays of conspicuous consumption once again, but this time no one cares.
Anyway, let’s start with Gillian Anderson, who showed up to SERVE.
And then came Laura Harrier and Lori Harvey:
And then there was Emma Roberts in this ballet skirt ensemble which I don’t hate. This is like a realistic take on the style of Emily in Paris.
Finally, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves McConaughey turned up together.
I LOVE her slouchy suit.
This is the kind of glamour Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos think they’re projecting. Of the two displays of conspicuous consumption held over the weekend, both in historical sites of wealth and privilege, only one was giving true glamour and it wasn’t that wedding.
