Maria’s away this week so I’m on duty here! 

Attached to this post are new photos of Timothée Chalamet and his mother out for lunch and also, separately, Jeremy Allen White this weekend in LA. But they are not the story. The story is about the person the internet is calling the “love child of Timothée Chalamet and Jeremy Allen White”: Olympic pole vault champion Armand “Mondo” Duplantis who was the big track and field star yesterday when he won gold and broken his own world record.

 

Mondo is gorgeous, with beautiful cheekbones and really great hair, and he’s even hotter because he’s so great at his job. Also hot? His girlfriend, Desiré Inglander who he kissed right after his record-breaking vault. 

When I looked up Desiré on Instagram yesterday after Mondo’s win, she had 200K or so followers. She’s now over 350K. People are obsessed with both of them. And discovering their Vogue Scandinavia photo shoot from a few weeks ago. 

 

As for how Mondo’s doing today after lighting up the Stade de France? He showed up on TV and, well, it’s confirmed. He partied very, very, very hard. 

More Olympic moments – and this is a spoiler for those who don’t watch the events live, if you’re saving the 10m platform diving final for when you get home, skip to the next. Although it shouldn’t be a surprise who won? 

 

Gold and silver were a foregone conclusion, it was just the bronze that was actually a competition. No one was ever going to come close to the Chinese divers, they’re operating on a whole new level. Especially Quan Hongchan and her signature “water splash disappearance technique”. She opened today with a perfect dive. Actually perfect – 10s across the board. And, indeed, there was no splash. It’s f-cking crazy. 

So she’s going viral for that but she also went viral a few days ago because of how she reacted to meeting Winter Olympics Queen Eileen Gu. Eileen is a major superstar in China and this is what happened when Hongchan, who’s only 17, connected with her idol.

 

May I repeat… she’s only 17. She won in Tokyo, she won in Paris, and she has at least, AT LEAST, one more Olympics in her. At least. 

Mindy Kaling’s daughter, Kit, is 6 years old but apparently has Olympic dreams of her own. There are some homemade medals in this carousel but of course the A plot is that she’s lost her tooth and would like some money, please. 

 

Gabrielle Union’s in Paris with Dwyane Wade as he’s doing basketball commentary for NBC. They’re also hitting up the Olympic party circuit and last night hung out with Taraji P Henson, Suni Lee, and Jordan Chiles. Last year we were worried about Gabby and D. I’m so happy we are past this. 

Last week, after she posted the TikTok below, people were speculating whether or not Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan broke up.

She’s on the cover of the new issue of Variety because, indeed, it has been Sabrina’s summer, and he comes up in conversation. It’s not a lot of detail and she doesn’t speak specifically about their relationship but… it’s not giving breakup. 

You know how it works by now, right? When Maria’s away and I take over this space, it’s always going to end on BTS. Two days to go until Jimin and Jungkook’s new travel show, Are You Sure?, drops on Disney+. However, I’m already obsessed with Japan, I didn’t need them to show me that I need to get to Sapporo!
