Lisa Rinna is launching a podcast that is a nod to a famous incident that happened on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills; Harry Hamlin is co-hosting. He was also recently on WWHL so it seems like they maintain an OK relationship with Bravo.
She’s done a good job of staying out of the fray since she left because there’s nothing sadder than a former Housewife who has been cast out of the kingdom trying to involve themselves in the show. I wonder why she’s trying to reintegrate back into the fandom now.
Back in 2014, Twitter was the town square. Instead of Nazis talking about how they got their feelings hurt by the Super Bowl halftime show, it was real celebrity feuds and our favourite writers and journalists sub-tweeting each other. It was bitchy and it was fun.
Lena Dunham was a cultural powerhouse and for those of us who remember her skirmish with Emily Gould (Brooklyn writer, early Gawker blogger – when I see her byline, it’s an automatic click), this new piece in The Cut will be a satisfying read. In it, Emily tackles her one-sided resentment of Lena in a way that is pretty relatable because there’s an element of professional jealousy. Not in a “I wish I had my own HBO show!” way, but in a way that’s less tangible. It’s about watching someone be totally authentic and succeed, but also back that success up with really good work. Emily captures that specific kind of envy so well. Lena hasn’t posted about this piece (and not sure if she will) but she did get a heads up about the article and is cool with it.
Apple TV is remaking Cape Fear into a miniseries with Amy Adams and Javier Bardem (GREAT casting) and this sent me straight to Wiki because it’s been years since I’ve seen the film. In the 1990s version, the defense attorney withheld a report that said the teen victim was “promiscuous” and that may have impacted rapist Max’s sentence, which is why he seeks revenge. This is very outdated, the script will need to change that to DNA evidence or something. Like that’s crazy. Here’s Javier, because Amy hasn’t posted since 2021.
Dakota Johnson’s sex toy line Get Maude and Stella McCartney have partnered for a gift-with-purchase people actually want: a free vibrator. This is much better than a tote bag or serum sample. And they used a Beatles pun for the caption to really drive it home.
Armand Hammer is trying to beat the cannibal allegations by talking about… eating an animal heart. I know some people eat animal organs and all that but has he ever considered NOT talking about eating things? It seems like an easy topic to avoid and yet he keeps going straight to it.
Here's Lisa Rinna at the Michael Kors show today in New York.
