Substack is social media, right? Today is mailbag day over on our Substack, The Squawk. And I write about a situation we might be sleeping on related to the Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Baldoni mess. Sorry to be that person but it’s juicy. The mailbag is free for all subscribers so… have you subscribed? Click here to read that post.

There was a time, not too long ago, on Oscar morning, when nominees would be asked about how they reacted to their nominations and they’d all claim to be sleeping and their mother or agent woke them up to tell them. As IF. Nobody was sleeping! Nobody believed they were sleeping. And I feel like nobody is pretending anymore as so many of them shared their reactions immediately on social media yesterday.

Here’s Coralie Fargeat reacting to her Best Director nomination, the only woman among the five.

Jon M Chu was not nominated in the director category but Wicked was nominated for Best Picture and, yes, Jon was up early, watching in real time. And shared this video in this carousel, scroll through.

This is a thread of several reactions, including short film creatives who may not ever get the opportunity again. So for those who are yelling to just cancel award season and cancel the Oscars, it’s not that simple and it’s not just about the stars. This matters to a lot of people whose names are not familiar but whose work deserves to be recognised.

The person who cares the most about this on our team is Jacek. I care because, well, it’s Lori Harvey and she keeps slaying and this time, she has the distinction of bring Playboy back into print. The first Playboy cover girl of the new era. In this new era… will the articles be as good as before? Because even though it was mocked back then, there was truth to that saying. There were good interviews in Playboy! Good gossipy interviews!

PLAYBOY returns to print with @loriharvey on the cover. Preorder today. On stands 02.10.25. Link in bio.

I don’t mean to step on MC’s Music Lounge here and he will be talking more about his new song by Sexyy Red and Bruno Mars in his column next Tuesday but, like, I screamed at the reveal of Lady Gaga and Rosé. As the kids say, I will be bumping “Fat Juicy & Wet” all weekend.

I’ve been obsessed with Robert Pattinson all week because while his personality has always been offbeat bordering on unhinged, that peculiar energy went next level while he was in Korea, totally leaning into Korean culture.

Sarah posted about the new trailer release earlier today. And to go along with all the buzz about the new trailer, there have been assortment of hilarious videos of Robert trying Korean food, doing finger hearts, and now… getting his colours done, LOOOOLLLL. This is a thing in Korea and everyone I know who’s been to Korea gets a colour analysis and every f-cking laser you can imagine. Not sure yet if Robert participated in any skin treatments but he did sit for his colour profile and it turns he’s a winter even though he wants to be a summer.

Because you asked - Rob is a winter ❄️ #Mickey17

Gavin Rossdale is a food influencer now? I had no idea, and I would have continued being oblivious to this had I not seen Serena Williams’s story because she and Brooke Shields and so many other celebrities are making appearances on Gavin’s new cooking show on a streaming show I’m not sure anyone has ever heard of. What’s the Serena connection? Well, I do know that Gavin loves tennis so I’m assuming this is where that came from.

Speaking of cooking, Gen Z is obsessed with Le Creuset. Not sure how they can afford Le Creuset but it’s been a thing for over a year now, young people in their 20s collecting all manner of dutch ovens in different colours. Look how many times this tweet has been viewed.

They’ve now dropped a Valentine’s Day collection and… whatever. If Gen Z wants to pop off over Le Creuset, I’m thrilled. Because I prefer a different Staub, which is a bougie AF thing to say, I know.

@lecreuset

Fall head over heels for our Valentine's Day Collection. 🤍 #lecreusettiktok #ValentinesDay #lecreuset #pinkkitchen #kitchenaesthetic #valentinesdaygift

You know how many times I’ve used the word “very” in my posts today? None until now. Yesterday, in all my posts, and I was at 2500 words, “very” showed up twice. And then, by total coincidence, I swear, I saw this tweet. Here’s the problem though with the alternative column on the right-hand side: people will just throw a “very” in front of all those adjectives.

J-hope performed at the Gala des Pièces Jauned last night in Paris. Also…he joined TikTok and already has two million followers. His first TikTok is a tease – March 7 appears to be the drop date. New music is coming ahead of the tour. Cut to me trying to slide-right-into-the-charger trick all night.
