If there’s a cause to spin into a self-congratulatory character analysis, Sophia Bush is there! What’s funny about this caption is how she acts like she’s so removed from the “viral craze” of Prenuvo (it was less a craze, more a sponcon push) and is instead an advocate for herself and for all women.
She addresses the accessibility of health care head on by doing the brave thing— hashtagging accessibility. She writes, “I have to thank the whole team for answering all of my questions about how to make this scan more #accessible to people.” But that’s about the extent of it - there’s zero context as to HOW that accessibility will happen. It’s feel-good word salad. No one is expecting Sophia Bush to forgo the healthcare available to her, or fix US healthcare, or have a magic wand to solve systemic inequality, but not everything has to be spun into an altruistic pat on the back. She liked the service so she agreed to promote them. Period dot end of sentence.
Yesterday Sarah wrote about Kevin Costner’s big gamble with Horizon which, so far, is not paying off. I really like the way she framed it as something that’s employing people and creating art, be it popular or not. Better than investing in an AI bot that is finding a way to bill orphans for shoe laces or something. The more I think about it, the more I’m pro vanity project. Is Horizon or JLo’s This is Me… Now (A Love Story) that different form Maestro? Bradley Cooper reportedly spent six years training to conduct music – JLo has spent her entire adult life being famous and getting married.
These are the sacrifices artists make! And my theory on why Horizon didn’t hit in the theatres is because Kevin’s audience has a lot of access to his work with Yellowstone and when it goes to VOD it will be a smash.
Katy Perry’s Woman’s World… ooof. She’s going to have a not-great weekend.
Jack Quaid went on the Daily Beast concept and confirmed that he is indeed a nepo baby and the privilege has helped in his career and then everyone got on with their day. We know it, he knows it, and no one is faulting any nepo baby for using those connections. His acknowledgement of the obvious is a great approach because no one is saying he isn’t good at his job.
How quickly do you think Julia Roberts befriended Ayo Edebiri? Like she’s having her over for a BBQ this weekend, I just know it.
