Penn Badgley is back filming You and this show… really lost the plot last season. In theory, London was a great idea but the execution was rough. 

I read both You and the great follow-up, Hidden Bodies. The second season of You strayed from the second book a lot, which I understand is often a storytelling necessity, but the starf-cker and might’ve-been desperation contrasted against the privileged nepo babies, set in a very particular slice of LA, was so well-done in the book and I wish that had translated.

Have you been following the controversy around The Deb, Rebel Wilson’s directorial debut? Most of it has been in the trades but it’s pretty interesting: the producers are accusing Rebel Wilson of embezzling funds and trying to sabotage filming (abandoning the project for long periods of time, demanding credit for writing that was not hers, disclosing information about the film she shouldn’t be). Wilson then went on Instagram Live and accused the producers of “bad behaviour” and referred to “inappropriate behavior towards the lead actress of the film” - according to THR, it was reported in 2023. The producers are suing her for defamation, asserting that the actress in question has completely denied any allegations of inappropriateness and that Wilson admitted to not knowing any specific details. The lawsuit also alleges that she is leveraging her social media popularity to smear them and get her way.

Before The Celebration Tour, Madonna was working on a biopic that was reportedly set to star Julia Garner (as Mother Madonna) and Julia Fox as Debi Mazar. Instead of her life story on the screen, it was the tour that acted as a retrospective of her career and influences. Having done a grand visual show, the screenplay might now take an entirely different shape.

A little while back I wrote about a rumour circulating about Miranda Lambert’s husband getting familiar with a woman at a bar in Nashville. At the time, I thought the gossip was pretty shaky (it would be a pretty bonehead move to cheat at a bar owned by your wife), and nothing came of it, which makes me think either it wasn’t true or, if it is true, Miranda wasn’t bothered.
