I read a comment that said the Wicked press tour has the energy of theatre kids at the last week of senior camp and it cracked me up. The whole tour is an extension of the performance.

“What happened to celebrity telethons?” is not a question I had pondered before reading this article, but it immediately piqued my interest. Celebrity telethons used to be huge, sometimes a yearly cause (like the Shriners), sometimes it was for a general cause (like world hunger) and sometimes it was for a catastrophic event. The last big telethon I remember was after 9/11 and it seemed like every single A-lister was involved.

Gary Baun’s piece in The Hollywood Reporter explains why telethons are no longer captivating, from the 24/7 news cycle to the loss of network audiences to the general distrust of celebrity charities. One thing I’ve also noticed again and again is the growing sentiment, especially with the cost of living, for people to point out that celebrities should support their own causes rather than asking their fans to fork over their cash.  But not all fundraising is lost; the move to live streaming or special “experience” events is an attempt to capture a niche audience. Zac Brown was mentioned in the piece so I looked at his Instagram and he does quite a few charity shows. So does Blake Shelton.

Lainey has declared Boston the unofficial city of PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive and I’m jumping on that to declare Ilaria Urbinati the official stylist of PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive. She works with John Krasinsky, Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, The Rock and was working with Bradley Cooper during his A Star is Born era. She also has many possible future contenders on her roster, including Barry Keoghan, Aaron Taylor Johnson and William Tyler James.

There was a minute when these two seemed touch-and-go but things seem to be back on track.

Why does the news of Paris Hilton’s new pet accessory line slightly depress me? There’s something about the way she lives in 2008 while the rest of us are in 2024 that is Black Mirror-ish. She’s like a pop culture Encino Man.
