Charlize Ballerina

Charlize Theron is making the rounds in New York promoting a new movie called Apex. As mentioned in this space earlier this week, she was also making headlines a few days ago, from her experience as a former dancer, for her comments on Timothée Chalamet disrespecting ballet and opera. Charlize actually trained in ballet and only quit because of an injury…and speaking of ballet, she’s kinda dressed here in an outfit that could be ballet.

This is Bottega Veneta, head to toe, bag too, under the creative direction now of Louise Trotter who had one of the most impressive debuts during the round of musical chairs between the fashion houses that just went down a few months ago. I am obsessed with this fit, because I’m partial to tutus or skirts that are giving tutu but also everything here just looks so flouncy and slouchy, breezy on the body, plus I love that she’s styled it just like it was on the runway, with flats. Technically these belong to the jazz shoe trend (like the classic Repetto Zizi) only softer, making them a hybrid, at least in my opinion, between a derby and a sneakerina.

Apex premieres on Netflix on Friday, co-starring Taron Egerton and Eric Bana. As far as I can tell from the trailer, Charlize’s character wants to be left alone so that she can hike her pain away in Australia and Taron’s the loser psycho who keeps getting in her face. I will watch this movie and expect to be satisfied when she f-cks him up at the end. Why would anyone want to take on Charlize Theron?!
