It was New York on Monday and now, just over a week before the movie opens on May 1, the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in London today for the premiere which, I think, is the last stop on the global tour.

Unless they added another city to what they announced a few weeks ago…

I’m talking about this because key parts of the film were shot in Italy – Milan and Lake Como, specifically. Milan is a fashion capital, so it’s a little surprising that Milan isn’t part of it. But maybe that’s why Donatella Versace was there, in London. There are multiple connections here, beyond the Versace name. Donatella actually has a cameo in the movie, it’s a good one, it made me laugh. Also, Anne Hathaway is a house ambassador and Annie’s wearing Versace here…

Blue velvet, the lapels on the bust and also at the small of her back, the cutouts that look like an exposed corset, and the high ponytail is exactly the right hair choice. This is SOOOOOOO good.

All of it has been more than good. Erin Walsh has not missed on this press tour, and her work with Annie should be considered on the same level as Andrew Mukamal and Margot Robbie, I said what I said!

It was also a strong showing for Emily Blunt. Not as much drama as what we saw in New York with the Schiaparelli but this is custom Balenciaga, like a bustier with a train, over pants, and a dementedly beautiful necklace. I’m not even into jewellery and I’m gagged over that piece.

As for Simone Ashley – this pink Mugler is better than the green mullet dress she wore in New York, which was custom Prada, but I don’t feel like this is the showstopper that I’ve been waiting for from her and maybe that’s not what she and her stylist were going for, given that she’s a supporting character (first assistant to Miranda), knowing that the fab four are the headliners?

Speaking of Miranda, though, Meryl Streep is having a TIME. We may never see her show up with this kind of energy on a press tour again because The Devil Wears Prada is such a specific vibe. So, please, let’s enjoy it while we can.

How much longer can we enjoy it though? If London really is the final stop on the tour, presumably many if not all these cast members will return to New York…? For the Met Gala? The Met Gala is happening three days after The Devil Wears Prada 2 opens – and I feel like that release date had to have been timed, just a little, to coincide, considering all the ties to Anna Wintour and Vogue.

Meryl is going to her first Met Gala, right? Right?
