Wicked: For Good premiered in Singapore today and I wish the top story was the fashion because OMG the looks…

But unfortunately some loser tried to make it about himself so that’s what the headlines are. He does it for attention so it’s best not to give him any as he’s a repeat offender with celebrities in the region. This is why I’m not linking to the video but if you haven’t heard, there was a person who crashed the yellow carpet today and went after Ariana. It must have been a terrifying moment for her, and those around her, but if we’re focusing on any part of this incident here, it should be on how she was supported.

In particular, Cynthia Erivo intervened immediately to protect her sister witch and it made me want to cry, seeing that much love and solidarity in action. So here’s the better video to circulate, this is the one to watch if you have to watch any of it – as Cynthia and Michelle Yeoh flank Ari right away and walk down the rest of the carpet. It’s Cynthia’s expression for me, how serious she is, how worried she is, how much care there is, and the friendship that is the foundation of all those feelings. This is the beauty that came out of something so ugly.

So let’s stay with the beauty and talk about the fashion. It was already snatched and extra the first time around last year but, like, somehow? They’re topping themselves. Cynthia was in Vivienne Westwood, a corset that drops away, exquisitely, on one side.

Michelle, meanwhile, at home in Singapore, by the way, wearing heart and art – one of the most Iris van Herpen dresses you’ll ever see. Look how it moves!

And finally, Ariana as styled by Law Roach who, as we know, has set his own standard, and somehow just keeps meeting it over and over again. We haven’t yet talked about Ariana in London, wearing Gilbert Adrian, the original costume designer for The Wizard of Oz and a couturier in his own right. It’s the second Adrian dress she’s worn on this press tour but the one-shoulder in London was such a classic.

Law also shared a clip from a documentary about Gilbert Adrian’s work and this has always been Law’s signature move – he takes the time to deeply appreciate the work.

As for what Ariana wore in Singapore, the red carpet dress is not the one that showed up on social media. And it might be… the best dress she’s ever worn? Not hyperbolic, not when you’ve seen it. Look at the back.

This is the new Balenciaga under the creative vision of Pierpaolo Piccioli. The small and large sequins combined, in dusty pale pink, that bow… and then she turns around…

…and it’s bloused.

Like, we have MONTHS to go. If this is what they’re throwing down in NOVEMBER… I don’t how we will survive the onslaught of so much slay through the rest of this press tour plus award season.

We don't yet have photos available to us from Singapore, so here is the cast in London.
