Romeo represented Brand Beckham at the Met this year. David and Victoria haven’t been in years and I don’t know if she would, unless she attended as a designer (which means the house would need to purchase a table).

Do we think Brooklyn and Nicola (who have attended in the past) skipped this year because they didn’t want to chance running into his estranged family, or were they just not up for it? They would likely be invited by a fashion house because Nicola’s family absolutely buys couture, and that’s very important in this scenario.

Upper bleph surgery is all the talk right now as famous men are walking around looking very wide-eyed. It’s the new buccal fat surgery. There has been some movement with famous women talking about their procedures (like Botox, fillers, even surgery) but I don’t think I’ve ever read or listened to a man talking about his work. Like not even lasers or medical facials, which they ALL do, at minimum.

The Pussycat Dolls cancelled their tour because of ticket sales, not artistic vision or needing more time or wanting to focus on their families. They did the math and it wasn’t mathing. Post Malone has also postponed (or cancelled) his tour and the Pussycat Dolls and Post Malone are, respectfully, not even in the same world. Postie is always on the radio, he collaborates across genres, he’s really popular. The Pussycat Dolls are more of a nostalgic song-and-dance act. But the overall story this summer for live events is that concert tours are touch-and-go and it’s really not a mystery as to why: tickets are too expensive. That’s it.

I wrote a piece today about Lauren Sanchez downgrading the Met Gala and it’s not that Lauren is wealthy. The wealth is the point at these things. Take for example Wendi Deng, who co-chaired the Gala in 2015. She attends every year, this time with both of her daughters and wearing Miss Sohee, a Korean designer based in London. Dasha Zhukova was also in attendance; Dasha was married to Roman Abramovich and is now married to Stavros Niarchos (two extremely wealthy men), who once dated Paris Hilton. Her mother Elena (a molecular biologist) is married to Rupert Murdoch. Wendi and Dasha are good friends; Wendi reportedly introduced Rupert and Elena. There is no way Lauren is in their group chat.

Sarah Jessica Parker is new Chief Creative Officer of a skincare line, which fine. OK. But I missed her at the Met! She is always one of my favourites because of the painstaking amount of thought and detail she puts into the theme.

Alexander Wang attended the Gala, continuing his fashion comeback after sexual misconduct allegations. He has support (obviously, he got an invite) but it’s not just Anna Wintour in his corner, Irina Shayk attended with him. The Cutting Room Floor interviewed journalist Lauren Sherman who spoke about her profile of him, it was an interesting listen. But I wanted to highlight how tacky his appearance was because he brought a product to promote. Imagine if Blake Lively pulled up with a can of Betty Buzz or if The Rock walked the red carpet with a bottle of Teremana? Ludicrous. Maybe Alexander pulled this stunt at the last minute, but I can’t imagine this was sanctioned.
