Demna Gvasalia’s latest collection for Balenciaga was presented today in Paris at Haute Couture Week and… remember when Balenciaga was cancelled? No? Well it was only a year and a half ago and nobody talks about it anymore so there was no cancellation because the comeback has been so quick. 

 

You can read The Cut’s summary of the scandal here. And now all the attention is focused on the show and the celebrities in attendance. After all, that’s how a fashion brand recovers – with celebrity endorsements, and many of them did not come alone this time. 

Notably three major names, all of them in contention for Emmys, arrived at Balenciaga with their daughters. Nicole Kidman, a Balenciaga ambassador, was there with Sunday Rose, who turns 16 next week, matching in body-con and black. 

 

Will be interesting to see if Sunday Rose ends up on the runway in the future. Nicole has walked for Balenciaga before – and I can totally see this mother-daughter front row appearance becoming, eventually, a mother-daughter catwalk. 

 

Maya Rudolph also brought her daughter, Pearl Minnie Anderson, to Balenciaga. Maya told WWD that this was her first time in Paris for haute couture. She was seated next to Anna Wintour and Kerry Washington. 

 

And finally, Naomi Watts and her daughter Kai, contrasting in black and white. That jacket on Naomi is sublime:

Naomi and Nicole have been friends forever so it was a nice moment, to see them seated with their daughters, around the same age, and perhaps become friends on their own.
