After a couple weeks of speculation, ET exclusively reported yesterday that Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are dating. But casual. So it’s an official confirmation of their casual dating status.
“A source has confirmed to ET that the 25-year-old makeup mogul and the 27-year-old Oscar nominee are dating. However, according to the source, it's not all that serious right now.
"They are keeping things casual at this point. It’s not serious, but Kylie is enjoying hanging out with Timothée and seeing where it goes," the source says. "It’s been really fun for her because it feels a lot different than her past relationships. It’s new and exciting for Kylie and she’s having a lot of fun."
To be more specific, it’s an official confirmation that they are having sex. Which is hilarious – that we’re doing leaks for this kind of update now, not that I’m complaining, but let’s also not pretend that this isn’t deliberate. ET is an outlet that often publishes the celebrity-sanctioned narrative and most recently was the first to break the news that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up, which as we know was a coordinated rollout.
So Kris, for whatever reason, wanted this out there. Maybe the reason is because Timmy wasn’t with Kylie at Coachella. And we’re getting an explanation for that too:
"Kylie decided she didn’t want to make things public with Timothée this past weekend at Coachella," the source explains, "and really just wanted to chill and have fun with her friends."
Kylie decided?! Is it entirely up to her? Because it’s not like Timothée Chalamet is a nobody. He’s one of the internet’s boyfriends. A whole generation of cinephiles is obsessed with him. Fashion people are obsessed with him. Going public would involve him too – and up to this point in his fame life, he hasn’t really been in-step with the Kardashian playbook where his romances are concerned. He and Lily-Rose Depp were papped together on occasion, for sure, none of that was set up; in fact he seemed pretty mortified that those shots of them kissing on a yacht were broadcast all over the place. And a few years ago when he and Eiza Gonzalez were seen together in Mexico, that seemed to end as soon as it began. My point is, this isn’t necessarily Timmy’s style… although he wouldn’t be the first to willingly be indoctrinated into the Kardashian fame style. For whatever reason though they felt the need to assure people that this indeed is a thing, that Kylie and Timmy are indeed dealing with each other … casually. He wasn’t at week one of Coachella, but maybe he’ll show up at week two?
