Ginnifer Goodwin: Zootopia 2 and Toggles
Zootopia 2 has always been one of the most anticipated releases of the year. In 2016, the first movie grossed over a billion dollars so it shouldn’t be all that surprising that the box office projection right now for the sequel, coming out over the American Thanksgiving holiday, is at $125 million. Then there’s the Oscar race. Zootopia won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2017 so everyone is leaving room in that category for a nomination, which is why we can’t say that Kpop Demon Hunters is the favourite. Not when Zootopia 2 enters the chat.
Ginnifer Goodwin has been on the Zootopia 2 press tour this week, in a variety of fall coats. Most of them lovely…but I’m singling out this one in particular because of the toggles. As you can see, it’s a navy peacoat with off-white toggles, which is exactly as it should be.
And what I mean by that is that I love toggles, but if there are toggles on a coat, or a jacket, whatever, the toggles should stand out. In my opinion, there’s no sense in putting black toggles on a dark coat because why wouldn’t you want the toggles to be seen? Ginnifer’s coat understands the assignment.
A toggle coat is a fall/winter staple. I don’t have a toggle peacoat but I did just try on this Studio Tomboy camel duffel that’s on sale right now for an outdoor shoot I might be doing in a few weeks. Please note, the toggles are visible. Zara has an almost exact dupe of this that is less expensive.
I also tried on this gorgeous Barbour Sherlock Holmes style coat with toggles – coats can be pricey, but a Barbour in particular, if you’re in the market, is an investment.
My toggle dream though is this Comme des Garçons pinstripe men’s coat. It’s both Asian style and western toggle! Crazy ass price, I know, but I just wanted you to see it. Here’s a similar women’s version.
Amazon has a way cheaper version, close-ish to the one Ginnifer is wearing, and it’s a two-sided toggle with Harajuku energy.
For a more durable option that isn’t exorbitant, and a coat you’ll wear for several years, LL Bean has a toggle duffle in two tartans, green and red. I LOVE this coat, it’s timeless.
And House of Bruar is a solid, reliable brand – this one in red with black toggles is straight out of a holiday romcom.
Now let me contradict myself, LOL, because I was just saying you should be able to see the toggles so a dark toggle on a dark coat is pointless…but what about a light toggle on a light coat? Not the same right? Anthropologie has a really cozy one (I tried this on too) and because it’s cream/ivory, the toggles don’t disappear.
And the one at Hollister is actually just as cozy, but with dark toggles, so you get the contrast, but even cheaper.
While we’re here, though, and we’re talking about fuzzy, cozy coats, let me show you the two that I’ve been debating that aren’t necessarily toggled but a similar kind of clasping. RW&CO has a sherpa coat that’s on sale right now in chocolate brown, a pretty good price considering how much you’ll wear it. So cute.
And here’s the one I bought from H&M, it’s SO soft, the clasps are visible, it fits like a bomber, it’s so stylish, and it’s under $100.

The headline here is that our Kathleen, because she’ll always be our Kathleen, interviewed Simone Biles. And they talked about WAG life. (Refinery 29)
Edgar Wright did an Ask Me Anything and even though the most notable answer is what he said about Ant-Man, my favourite answer is that he listed Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho before PTA. On that note, see No Other Choice! (Pajiba)
I’m never mad at a sack dress but the problem with this sack dress on Alicia Silverstone isn’t the shape of it, it’s the nude underlay. This is why I will never f-ck with a nude underlay under a darker colour. Why do people keep doing it? (Go Fug Yourself)
Jennifer Aniston talks about her boyfriend, Jim Curtis, the hypnotist, for the first time and calls him both “extraordinary” and “normal” which are also adjectives often used to describe her, so they’re perfect for each other. (The Cut)
East Asia is producing so much BL – and my colleagues are tired of me talking about how much I watch them. This the new BL series that I’ll be watching over the holidays – 10Dance, a “spicy gay dance movie”, give it to me now! (Out)
