Everyone at Michael Kors
Michael Kors is always a draw at New York Fashion Week and today was no exception. One of the most notable guests was Gwyneth Paltrow. She isn’t a NYFW regular, and she isn’t a MK regular (like Emily Blunt and Blake Lively), so it was a surprise to see her there, but not a surprise to see her fit – the most quiet luxury look of all the celebrities who attended.
No one gives “I’m doing you a favour” like GP, it’s nauseating.
She wasn’t the only Oscar winner on the guest list though. Ariana DeBose was there too, she’s worn Michael Kors often, in a very MK look – brown oversized sequined blazer.

And the daughter of an Oscar winner was invited: Ava Phillippe, whose parents are Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, just turned 26 years old, WHAT?!
It was announced this summer that Ava joined the cast of Tommy Dorfman’s Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, based on Mariko Tamaki’s graphic novel, in the title role. This is a queer coming-of-age story and is one of many 2SLGBTQ+ books that are included on banned lists in schools across America. In the book, 17-year-old Freddy (played by Sam Morelos in the movie) is in a toxic relationship with Laura Dean, the most popular girl in school. Freddy has to figure out how to finally quit a person who isn’t good for her and good to her and make better choices – in romance, in friendship – so that she can be there for those who truly care for her and, of course, for herself.
This is Ava Phillippe, the first child of America’s Sweetheart, not playing a sweetheart. I am intrigued!
What else happened today…
Baby, this is Keke Palmer at the Emmys in 2005! (Go Fug Yourself)
Heidi Gardner will not be returning to Saturday Night Live and, reportedly, it wasn’t her choice. If that’s true, nobody understands this. Don’t we all love Heidi? Bowen Yang definitely loves Heidi and will miss her so much. (Pajiba)
I totally forgot that John Malkovich and Michelle Pfeiffer had an affair while working on Dangerous Liaisons even though I used to walk around quoting that film. “My victory wasn’t over her. It was over you.” The venom that went back and forth between John and Glenn Close was delicious. But, also, the panting between John and Michelle was… super believable. After nearly 40 years, John is talking about what their relationship cost him. (Celebitchy)
Michaela Coel’s red carpet appearance at TIFF was a tribute to Sudan that was covered in Vogue, and Kathleen writes about how intentional Michaela was about the presentation of the spread, after an exclusive interview with the Toronto-based Sudanese photographer, Nabra Badr, who took the photos. (Refinery 29)
Bryan Cranston just won another Emmy. Now he’s talking about microdosing and his retelling of the experience is also Emmy worthy. (EW)
