Emily Blunt was at the Another Simple Favor premiere in New York the other night because she is close with Blake Lively. In fact, she and John Krasinski are tight with Blake and Ryan Reynolds. John wasn’t with her, however, and instead she attended with her brother-in-law, Stanley Tucci. It might be because John is currently promoting his own movie as he was seen in Paris today starting the press tour for Fountain of Youth. Stanley also has a role in the film but in a supporting capacity – this is John and Natalie Portman and also Eiza González. She’s in Paris too.
I had not heard of this movie, directed by Guy Ritchie, until a few days ago when they dropped a second trailer, which means I missed it when they released the first trailer even though Guy has assembled a notable cast; in addition to John, Natalie, Eiza, and Stanley (which would be enough!), Carmen Ejogo, and Domhnall Gleason are also in this. Interesting to me that, and we can fight about this, Guy Ritchie hasn’t made a good movie in years, but he can still attract so much talent.
Anyway, Fountain of Youth is – I think – about John Krasinski, an art and artifacts thief…trying to find the Fountain of Youth? There’s witty banter between John and Natalie who play brother and sister and flirty banter between John and Eiza who is the romantic interest and rival. Natalie is giving artifacts expert/academic. So this is Indiana Jones, The Thomas Crowne Affair, and The Mummy all in one, plus Luke and Leia Skywalker, LOL. It’s chaotic enough that I don’t hate it. Trailer is below.
You know what I’m less sold on… and so is apparently everyone else? Because I’m about to remind you that John Krasinski is the reigning PEOPLE Magazine Sexiest Man Alive – and you didn’t remember. I barely remembered. It used to be that the SMA title was mentioned whenever the man stepped out. And now it comes and goes like a TikTok trend. Is it because it’s been devalued by virtue of boring picks or just a general consequence of everyone’s short attention span?
