Dear Gossips,

Last Friday in What Else?, linking to a story I saw at Pajiba, the game question was what film you would play on opening night if you owned your dream theatre.

Over at The Squawk, the suggestions ranged from Singing in the Rain to Speed to Indiana Jones to more unexpected pitches like The Sixth Sense and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. The first film that comes to mind for me, right away, is Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Sarah, ever the astute programmer, because she actually participates in this exercise for real with the Chicago Critics Film Festival as a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association, chose The Princess Bride, because it’s family-friendly. But then she went a step further and came up with an opening day – here’s what would be playing at Sarah’s theatre:

Matinee: The Last Unicorn

Early Show: The Princess Bride

Late Show: Blood Simple

Midnight: Foxy Brown

And this is my opening day schedule:

Matinee: Spirited Away

Early Show: The Breakfast Club

Late Show: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Midnight: Point Break

Thank you playing the game of imagining you have money and scheduling entertainment for people. We’ll try to keep that going today on the site with a big assist from TNT.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
