What Else?
OK this is a fun game, I love this game. Sarah! Let’s play this game! If you owned a theatre, what movie would you show on opening night? I know my answer but I’m not going to share it just yet because I want Sarah to tell me her answer and for you to share your answers and I’m going to write about it in Monday’s site open. Think about this and let us know! Either in today’s chat at The Squawk or email me! (Pajiba)
Would your choice be Practical Magic? Maybe at a certain time of year, right? Practical Magic, for me, is best seen after mid-September, when it starts to cool. This is what people now refer to as Pumpkin Spice season, and that expression has been an eyeroll. So maybe we should call it Practical Magic season instead? Sandra Bullock is very excited to give us the sequel.(Celebitchy)
Stirrup pants have been back for a minute and now we’re seeing them in the latest Versace collection which… I’m not mad at. I think I actually might need a pair of animal print stirrup leggings in my life with pumps to match. That’s the thing about these stirrups though: you need a shoe that shows off some foot skin because otherwise what’s the point of the stirrup. And that kinda rules out most sneakers. I would love to see this with a flat platform mary jane, though, as an experiment to determine if it’s enough skin. Definitely more than a sneaker but maybe still not enough. (GoFugYourself)
Remember when Beyoncé dropped a new masterpiece of an album this year and we greedily and stupidly thought there would be videos or a tour announcement and instead she went to Japan on release date and dropped in on a few things here and there but then basically went back inside? Still, every few weeks, we delude ourselves into thinking something is coming. This week though, Beyoncé spoke! And by “spoke” I mean she had her people email a response to The Hollywood Reporter for their piece about how her music has created space for Black country artists because those gatekeepers keep trying to enforce their status quo. Not on Beyoncé’s watch! (THR)
Today is Lana Del Rey’s birthday. Last night she played a show in Boston that was weather-delayed and it sounds like it was chaos although Lana was trying to share as much information as she could through social media which is an example of how social media can be effective but also, in my experience, social media at a concert is glitchy because of the traffic. Or is it just my phone? Anyway, let me take a break here from “The Boy is Mine” with Brandy, Monica, and Ariana here to play you some “Summertime Sadness”. Seems fitting for Lana’s bday but also since it’s officially celestially summer now and it might be the soundtrack to our mood if Bennifer decides they have something to tell us. (The Cut)
