Dear Gossips,

Fashion girlies can argue about which fashion house put out the best collection at Paris Fashion Week but for celebrity front row, Chanel won… not because they had more celebrities, but because of what the combination of celebrities delivered while they were seated together, at least in terms of virality which is one of the metrics by which media impact value (MIV) is measured.

First it was Alexa Demie, Nicole Kidman, Dua Lipa, and Pedro Pascal grooving to Britney’s “Gimme More” and then Aha’s “Take On Me”.

And then Kristen Wiig, Pedro, Dua and of course Nicole lip-synching to ADÉLA’s song “Nicole Kidman”. Nicole has already acknowledged the track, a couple of times, during promotion for Practical Magic 2. But this is next level: the setting, the assists, and Pedro getting the “my tits are sitting right” line… it’s an instant classic. So ADÉLA wins too.

As the closing show of PFW, naturally Chanel flexed an abundance of top ambassador talent – in addition to the above, Ayo Edebiri was also there, and John Malkovich, currently considered the frontrunner for a Best Actor Oscar nomination, Sandra Hüller, Marion Cotillard, Wang Yibo, Olivia Wilde, and so many more.

The best fit, though, at least in my opinion, and the one that seems to be popping off the most, is Alexa’s. I posted about Alexa x Chanel back in the summer, when she made her first appearance as a guest of the house, signalling her emerging value for the brand. Which is that much more interesting because Alexa doesn’t work that much, by choice, and doesn’t show up all the time and everywhere, and posts veryyyyy sparingly on Instagram so when she does step out, it’s that much more noteworthy. And they gave her a look that maximises that cachet.

The Chanel codes are there, recognisably. The set is a Chanel standard, and the quilting too, that you would see on the flap bag… only now the two are combined, not tweed but with a shiny iridescent finish in the most pop-glam colour, and it looks light and moveable on her body. Now she’ll probably disappear for the rest of the year.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
