Big show for Jimmy Kimmel last night. As mentioned in today’s site open, Oprah popped in and he also had George Clooney there. George is doing promo for Wolfs (we’ll get to that in a minute) but since he was following Oprah’s moment on the show, and she was encouraging people to vote, Jimmy started the interview about politics, and George’s op-ed in July in the NYT imploring President Joe Biden to step down.

Jimmy’s probably giving George way too much credit for what ended up happening but I did enjoy the part of the conversation about how much Donald Trump hates both George and Jimmy. And George’s quip that he would quit movies if Trump quit politics.

Anyway, back to Wolfs – the movie world premiered in Venice to very average reviews and will have a short theatrical run starting this Friday before it’s available to stream on Apple TV+ next Friday. As we have seen, they’re selling it on the appeal of the Clooney and Brad Pitt friendship so you would think they’d be doing this press tour together, right? It’s PR 101. Two major movie stars reuniting onscreen, send them out to the talk shows, let people see their real-life chemistry, how they finish each other’s sentences, laugh at inside jokes; we all know this show, a marketing intern could tell you that that would be the ideal.

But Brad Pitt doesn’t do that kind of publicity. He’ll show up for a taped piece (which he did with Kimmel and Clooney) but he rarely ever sits down for a live chat. George? No problem. When he’s on promotion, George will get out there and make the rounds. Brad? Please. Not even for this movie? A movie that’s built entirely around the TWO of them being grizzled and jaded and going up against each other exchanging world-weary insults?

Nope. I mean they could have, seeing as they did air the taped bit (embedded below) but for the traditional interview portion of the appearance, it was just George – who, by the way, looks really good and refreshed.

Brad will, of course, attend the Hollywood premiere tonight, and presumably with Ines de Ramon by his side since they’ve established that these days where he is, she is. There will lots of photos of him with George, smizing and fronting like they’re still cool AF and aspirational. Which, sure, maybe they are. Aspirational enough to make this movie a big hit? How big will Wolfs open…or not?

How many people will be streaming it, or subscribing to Apple TV+ to stream it (since it’s lagging behind the others in subs) just to watch George and Brad?
