There’s some online chatter about The Athletic’s piece on NFL player Jonathan Owens, who is married to Simone Biles. Some people think it’s embarrassing, but I read it completely differently – Owens’ trajectory in the NFL has included injuries and cuts, it has been a grind. His work ethic and tenacity are what kept him in the game and his experience in the pros is probably more typical than that of superstar NFL players.

He also fully embraces the fact that his wife is more famous than he is, and he’s accessing experiences and opportunities outside of football because of her. She is one of the most decorated Olympians of all time, it would be silly to write an article and not mention how that impacts his life.

Yesterday I posted about Alexa Chung for Reformation and to add to that, she’s also the face of the campaign for Old Navy x Altuzarra this fall. Interesting double dipping. I’ve also noted that Chloe Sevigny is working with Target again and Jennifer Lawrence was just spotted in the Banana Republic x La Ligne chinos, so they are going to sell out real quick. John Galliano for Zara is sold out. Gap is restocking the Hailey Bieber jeans and I suspect will do another round with Victoria Beckham. I was at the mall last week and Holt Renfrew, a luxury department store in Canada, had a whole ON section for Zendaya’s new collection. What I’m trying to get to is this: mall brands are hot right now. And it could be a much-needed correction away from online-only fast fashion.

This Instagram post feels like it was custom-made for my interests: Jeremy Strong and Rod from Couples Therapy meeting on the street in New York.

The Hollywood Reporter has tweeted about Digger multiple times in the last 48 hours and the tone is confrontational and bizarre, particularly around Cuarón, del Toro and Iñárritu. In the words of Nene Leakes, it’s getting weird.

Merrit Wever might get an Oscar nomination for Primetime and she really doesn’t want to talk about herself. So instead, let’s talk about work and a show that haunts me: Run, a TV series she starred in with Domhnall Gleeson. The premise was two college sweethearts who made a pact to meet at Grand Central Station if one texted “RUN” and the other responded. It had a couple of good episodes and then went completely and spectacularly off the rails. Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a cameo in it, she was terrible. The whole thing was a mess and Max scrubbed it (but I think you can still find it on Crave in Canada). It would be kind of cool if they rebooted it with the same cast, on HBO, and the same concept. But a very different team of writers.
