Islanders at the BET Awards
All my fellow Love Island USA stans were fed well last night because there were so many alums from previous seasons at the BET Awards. In fact, with Megan Thee Stallion skipping the awards to appear on the current season of the show, it really did feel like both broadcasts were blending into one. Love Island USA favourites have become legit celebrities now.
Especially Olandria Carthen, arguably the biggest star to come out the franchise, who stops you in your tracks with every red carpet appearance. Since her time on the show, it has just been nonstop invitations and brand deals. Last night she was both sexy and graceful in a yellow gown, some are saying it’s her best look yet. I am some. She’s f-cking stunning, I really think she might be the most beautiful woman I’ve laid eyes on. In less than a year, she has managed to make enough of a name for herself that she has become a red carpet regular, quickly becoming the prime example of what an ex-islander can do with the clout from being on the show.

Olandria’s beauty was either a planned part of the opening monologue or just pure coincidence, but either way, she was noticed. In a new sparkly black ensemble of course. Druskii, who hosted the show, referred to her as “fine shyt”, leading the crowd to help her to her seat like it was a prayer. Five minutes into the broadcast and she was already part of a memeable moment.

My girl is a true star and I love seeing her continue to thrive. In the 90s we had famous super models, in 2026, we have reality stars. When those stars are as jaw droppingly beautiful as Olandria, the two are interchangeable. As usual, the fans online have been gagged by Olandria’s outfit changes. Even the social media intern running the account for the Empire State Building had to give her flowers.
Other season seven alums to walk the carpet were Olandria’s former bestie Chelley Bissainte and the winner of the season, Amaya Espinal. She told a reporter on the carpet that she would be releasing music soon. Truth be told, I don’t believe that we need an Amaya album, just me? She looked beautiful though and even shouted out some of her favourites on this season of LI. I can’t say that I 100% agree with her but I’m sure my favourite islanders don’t align with the majority online, and I’m ok with that. I do love Trinity though.

Season 6 winners Serena Page and Kordell Beckham popped out looking like the perfect couple. Yes, they are still together after two years! Everything from their black outfits to the body chemistry was coordinated. When he was helping lay out Serena’s dress, I knew that he was a keeper. One tweet referred to the “that’s a good man, Savannah” TikTok trend when reposting them on the carpet. That trend borrows the line from the 1995 movie Waiting to Exhale. To me, that’s what I see when I see Kordell with Serena. They are the hope that I need to have as someone who has watched dating shows since childhood. Fellow sixth season alum JaNa Craig also walked the carpet and took some selfies with Amaya. That makes six different islanders in attendance, it’s giving college reunion. The show’s presence goes beyond what’s currently airing. Could Love Island USA be the next star-making vehicle? It’s definitely helping a select few. Who from this season will join them?
“That’s a good man, Savannah.” 😭😍🏆
